June 26,2006
What a great Field Day! This year was the best of my last 30 years of operating. There was no station interference even when two stations were on the same band. We had a QRN free location, plenty of elbowroom and lots of parking. A big Thank You to all that helped with this years event.
Before we forget what worked and what did not, please send your comments directly to me at ksecora@usa2net.net . There are many easy improvements that we can make before the 2007 event, not only for Field Day, but for the day we have to put our skills to actual use in an emergency.
Thanks again for making this an enjoyable event.

The 2006 Field Day will be held June 24 – 25 at Idamere County Park located on highway 448 just east of highway 19 south of Tavares. This year’s event will be a joint effort of ARES group and the LARA radio club. The park site is well suited for a successful operation as it offers a close in location, tall trees and open areas to erect a variety of antennas. The event will be structured as if it were an actual emergency but keeping all the fun of a contest in tact. Field Day is a great way to learn how to respond to a real disaster using the ICS proven methods. Both groups are asked to take part in operating as well as the construction and testing of the gear required and offering suggestions for making the event a productive and fun filled experience. There will be two special meetings before deployment to make sure we have a workable plan. Watch for announcements as to the dates and locations of these planning meetings.
